Iconic music magazine NME wanted to create a premium, quarterly journal that would be a clear departure from their flagship publication. Their first edition focuses on the punk movement.
In a deliberate departure from traditional design expressions of punk, the article’s themes of progressive rebellion are achieved through more subtle means: unexpected and disruptive layout of typography, bold colours used moderately, generous amounts of negative space, and photography which is purposefully obscure and provokes curiosity.
